Purchased this rack a couple years ago for the wife's kayak. She is able to hang the kayak without help. She is almot 50. I just recently purchased a second rack for the old guys (me) new kayak. Just exactly what I needed. Do not know how long the padding on the tube rack will last, but with care and out of direct sunlight, should easily last for several years.

This is a good product although it will not work with my kayaks (one Ascend A10 and one Ascend D10) . The bow of the kayak is too deep for the hook to cradle. This does however, keep the Thule cartop carrier box on the wall well. So prior the purchase, make sure your boat will fit. Also, it does come with good metallic attach hardware (I've seen some reviews for hooks that say the included hardware is lacking).
