Made for kayaks, this anchor features a unique drawstring opening on both ends for control to help you keep from drifting off your favorite fishing hole. Keeping your position saves the energy of repeated paddling to maintain your position, enables more controlled casting, and helps control rudder steering in advancing seas. Control the amount of drag easily with a simple pull on the control cord that expands the semi-rigged mouth opening to allow water to enter more freely, increasing drag. The smaller end of the anchor can be left open for light wind conditions or closed for maximum resistance. Anchor stows flat for easy packing and stowing on the deck. Rated 5 out of 5 by Far Less Wind Fighting Great product. Helped me to drift consistently with the wind and improve the cast-to-paddle ratio. Durability seems good so far, the stitches look to be quality. My only possible gripe is that the package said it came with instructions. Very easy to use, so I didn't need them, but others may. I look forward to using it for years. June 25, 2011

Details: 
I will be using this anchor on my canoe and want to make sure I have enough stopping power on a higher profile craft. I have been planning on using a standard 30" sock until I found this. I like the adjustable feature but I'm not sure it will be big enough. My canoe is 16'.

This slows me down to a great speed in my 12' FS12T Kayak. On a fairly windy day (around 20 mph or so) I can still get a couple casts with soft plastics in each honey spot on the bank. The adjustable feature does make a big difference when you open or close the bottom narrow part of the sock.

Canoes do sit a little higher in the water, so it might not be best for the very windiest days in Kansas. That being said, it packs down very small, so keeping it on hand is not a chore even if you need a bigger one that day.
