The plastic device is not ready to take fishing. First you will need to mount a better attachment plate so you can tighten your trolling motor to the bracket to keep it from slipping. Also, the bracket doesn't fit down into a jon boat handle that is on the boat but if you mount another bigger handle device on your boat you can make it slightly bigger so this bracket will fit down into it. Otherwise the round beam on your boat will prevent the bracket from slidding down into the boat handle correctly. It's a good idea the bracket just doesn't fit my 16-ft. standard jon-boat and the quality is less than I expected.

I purchased this product 4 years ago and it has worked perfectly ever since. I use my jon boat very regularly and put the boat through some pretty nasty cover. The bracket has never failed me. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is searching for an easy solution to mount a hand-controlled trolling motor.

Bought this item for the front my 10' Jon Boat. Im running a Minn Kota 40# Thrust motor. Goes into the handle of the boat easily, but when full power is used the motor wants to launch to the surface. Very Shaky, and unstable. Perhaps some sort of additional bracing can be fabbed up,but as is its very unstable, even with Bungee Cords for additional holding support. Save your money and have someone fab up a solid metal mount.

Well after trying this for myself. I have now lost my trolling motor and bracket in the water. As well as my buddy that was trolling the boat in the water. It came right out really easy and he fell into the water and we couldnt find it again. It would be cheaper just to build something to mount on then this product.
