There have been many imitations over the years, but none have ever matched the action and simplicity of Johnson's Original Beetle Spin. After 48 years of fishing and millions of fish, we know what works! The bright, matching "safety-pin" spinner is easy to remove when you want a plain jig for deep-water presentations. Available with silver or gold blade spinner.
Note: Number shown per pack below refers to number of grub bodies. All packages also come with a jighead and one silver or gold spinner arm. 1/32 oz. size is a grub body with a single tail, not a split tail as shown.

For the price, these lures cannot be beat. They are super cheap and they work like a charm on pretty much all panfish. I would recommend replacing the trailer with something that has a longer tail, but other than that you cannot beat these!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Floridafisher Great little lure
This bait is fantastic. I did not use the beetle spin grub body. I used one with a spinning tail and it worked great. Caught one of the biggest sunfish ever and two small bass. Highly recommend.

This is an old lure that was on the shelf of probably every bait and tackle shop in the Midwest 20 to 40 years ago. It does not have a curly tail and does not do much of anything when it is cast and retrieved. As far as I know it has no special sauces or salts built into it. The beetle spin has caught more fish for me than with any other lure that I have ever used except for a yellow Rooster Tail that was used to fish for trout. That is some claim when you consider the fact that I own a lot of lures.
Now days the Beetle Spin seems to be out of style. As far as i know Bass Pro Shops is the only place that still sells them. I read where someone felt that the action of the tails of many of the newer grub and creature lures will scare away more fish than what they will catch. I dug out some old Beetle Spins a few years ago and began catching more fish with them than what I was able to catch otherwise. That included Black Bass, Stripped Bass and Crappie.
I now live in the northern Midwest and the only game fish in the lakes around here are perch and walleye. I found that the red and chartreuse body from a 1/8 or 1/4 ounce Beetle Spin placed on a 1/8 ounce Northland Thumper Jig of the watermelon glow color will catch both perch and walleye on just about every cast and retrieve. This has been the case when no one else on the lake is catching anything.
The Johnson Beetle Spin may be old and out of style. I do not think that the fish know that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AwesomeSpinners Best investment for fishing you can make!
These spinners are an amazing buy, you can catch crappie, sunfish/bluegill, perch, bass, and even small catfish! These are great spinners to start off with if you are a beginner at fishing, you literally cannot fish these wrong. I bought 16 of these a while ago and am glad i did. I would recommend these to anyone. I also suggest (if you live in an area where the fish love crawfish/crayfish) to buy some uncle bucks creatures crawfish spins.
