I have been using Joe's Flies lures for years. They are the best trout fly spinner I have ever used. I recently returned from a Michigan fishing trip to the Au Sable, Betsey and Muskegon rivers. I used the Joe's Flies Willow series and caught and released many rainbow, brown, brook and steelhead trout. My favorites are the Trout Special and the Royal Coachman lures. I have fished the Joe's lures on the White and Norfork rivers in Arkansas and on the Caney Fork in Tennessee with equal success. These lures are simple the best. They also work great on bass and walleye when I use them on local rivers.

Gold. Silver and copper work well, too. Despite that answer and what some people have written, I (and several other prominent spinner fishermen in PA) have noticed no significant difference in the number of trout strikes due to color.
