Looks a bit retro compared to the "good looking" internal frames, but, I can pack a lot in this bag. Getting ready to go out for my fourth hike with this pack in a few months. I expect it to help get me through. March 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great pack I love this bag, you can fit an amazing amount of stuff in it and there is room for everything. I have completely loaded it down and still had room for more. I strap my hatchet to the front of the bag and use the straps on the front to hold it on there. I would definitely recommended this bag to someone looking for a great external frame backpack. Rated 4 out of 5 by Very nice pack, BUT This pack is very nice, it has alot of great features. The pack is light, very nice in person, lots of space inside. Even on the top cover you have alittle more space there. Holds 32oz. water jugs, and really does well on spreading the weight to your waist and shoulders. Has a spot for a bladder which is great I did not know that when I bought it. BUT, does NOT have a place to put a hatchet NOR an AXE!!!!! My old jansports have always had both spots. I was sad to see that but, all in all I'll keep it because I like it. July 9, 2010

I typically carry my 1-person Solitaire on top, though for two years I stuffed it inside. It will work but I think it is hard on the tent poles.

Not that I am unable to locate. However, if you have a hiker or backpack style tent then this style of External Frame Backpack will work with your tent.

Can't answer the question on the dimensions of the frame, never measured it. But, a 1- or 2-person tent can be attached to the bottom frame, though, you may want to attach it to the top to keep the heavy stuff up high.

The tent is attached to the bag itself, but if you want you can run a strap across the frame and strap it to the frame aswell.
