These chips are made from the genuine charred white oak barrels the company uses to age its famous Tennessee whiskey. Some of the whiskey makes its way into the wood during the aging process and stays there when the barrel is emptied. Delivery was remarkably quick since I am in South Africa. The product is great, smells like JD and makes smoke like it is supposed to in my cold smoker. Only the oak overpowers the JD fragrance and in the end I could not taste the JD in my smoked trout. It still tasted great and I plan to investigate bringing in a container of the chips and use it here and smoke some Salmon Trout on a commercial scale. Love it and the Trade Mark and locals will certainly love it too if it is price compettitive

The Jack Daniel's Wood Smoking Chips, when combined with charcoal, provide a great flavor to the pork butt/shoulder when slow smoking on the kettle grill. I think the smell drives my neighbors crazy! The chips also work well with other meats - ribs, chicken and brisket.

I add a small handful to each load of charcoal in my Big green Egg, and it takes steaks,ribs, and pork shoulder ( pulled pork) to the next level! don't buy just one! locally these bags sell for $12-15 bucks, this is for sure the best price, I buy 5-10 bags at a time and that lasts a year, with a couple bags given to friends and family. supercharge the smoke output by soaking the chips ion water for 5 mins. first, then throw over hot coals
