I purchased the 17"-23" extendable trolling motor handle and in my case works perfectly on my MotorGuide VariMax 24 volt trolling with the pontoon mount. I have 2' of free space in front of my aluminum retaining area of the pontoon and from my swivel seat behind that area would make it difficult to reach the handle even though it is in itself extendable. The Helmsmate makes up the difference where I can sit on the seat and still drive the pontoon. The handle comes with a rubber insert about 5-6" long; I did not need it and the handle, after tightening the door knob-like device, stays in place and performs very well with all the maneuvering, forward, backward, turning, speed, and stopping. I'm very satified with the Helmsmate handle.

super great tool
We use this on our new Motor Guide trolling motor - fits great (REALLY EASY TO ATTACH), absolutely necessary for where we mounted the trolling motor. I have only 1 very minor complaint. when you extend the handle, at times you miss the hole and the extension comes completely out of the shaft. Since I extend it before we start fishing, it's not a huge deal. Have not had it long enough to rate the durability

got my extendable trolling motor handle and it works
great. I use it with my trolling motor that is mounted
on the stern of my 15 ' canoe. It gives me the freedom
to have the handle at my side rather than having to
twist around and reach my short trolling motor handle.
Works well on my 6 year old Minnekota motor.
