got my extendable trolling motor handle and it works
great. I use it with my trolling motor that is mounted
on the stern of my 15 ' canoe. It gives me the freedom
to have the handle at my side rather than having to
twist around and reach my short trolling motor handle.
Works well on my 6 year old Minnekota motor.

This dude is bad, right out of the box and on the trolling motor. Look out crappie, no more standing up everytime I need to kick out one way or another. This thing is solid, best part is it just slips off and throw it in a storage spot while not using. Out of sight out of mind!! Buy it

If your VariMax is similar to a 75# thrust then it will fit, just remove the rubber insert. At BPS I have seen hinged handles but the reviews say the hinged area is too loose and when one is not holding it the handle falls, does not stay at the height desired. Hope this helpsAnswers

It will. The clamp is lined with a rubber insert. It can be removed if needed and the marine grade nylon clamp can be pulled open to accommodate larger diameter handles. For smaller diameter handles, Ironwood will provide, on request, a second piece of sleeve that can be used to attain a solid fit. While it was designed for the 15hp and under gas, and electric trolling motors, I'm not aware of a tiller outboard or electric trolling motor that it won't fit.

I unfortunatly did not measure the size of the Helmsmate handle but it did fit my VariMax 24 volt 75# thrust throlling motor existing handle. I would compare your mercury handle to a VariMax motor handle and go from there. The Helmsmate handle has a rubber insert, comes out easily, that I did not need on my VariMax. Hope this helps.1 of 1
