I bought this to use on both a v-bottom (utility) boat and a kayak. I never used it on the kayak, but used it as my anchor/stern light for the v-bottom. It never really seemed that bright to me and I have never been able to find anywhere stating that this product meets regulation requirements. The mounting pole is very loose and flops around, but it didn't fail. I used it periodically for about two years (maybe 5-6 times/year) before I started having problems with it. I took it apart and repaired it once. Last time I went out, the light wouldn't come on at all; the push-button did nothing and taking it apart revealed the plastic insert holding the battery had broken. I like the concept and wanted to like the light, but I've never been really happy with it and don't think it's worth the money. If it were $12-$15, I would get another one, but not at double that price.

The clamping mechanism is weak. However, the vaious attachment selections will overcome this drawback. The light itself is well made and performs very well. Quality product.

Purchased a set of these lights, bow & stern. The problem is in the clamping devise. Made of extremely cheap metal. As you tighten the U shaped clamp it begins to spread until it eventually breaks. You will not be able to attach this light to the boat using the clamping device. Returned my set to Bass Pro.
