IMR® 4064 Smokeless Reloading Powder
IMR 4064 Great Powder
I had been told IMR or H4831 for .270 and IMR or H4350 for .308
Well, try finding those....
...I did some research and this powder can be used in both calibers.
I did some reloading and shooting, and at least in my Remington 7400 .308 and my Weatherby Vanguard .270 it's a fantastic, accurate powder.
Both guns are shooting fantastic with this powder and Hornady SST bullets.
In the image you'll see two groups. Both less than 2" and both at 100 yards.
I also recommend white paper plates. Cheap targets and you can see your shots easy at distance.

IMR 4064 is a versatile powder
In addition to using I 4064 for M1 Garand loads, I have found it to be a good substitute for Varget, Vighta Vuori N140, and Alliant Reloder 15 for 8mm Mauser loads. It shoots accurately as do the other powders in Hornady's 150sp and 170 r n bullets. In tests using several K98 Mauser's I 4064 equaled the results I get with the other three powders and is more readily available.

Accurate, Consistant & Reliable
I have a Remington 700 Classic 35 Whelen. For 10 years i have exclusively used 61 grains of IMR4064 with a Nosler 225gr ballistic tip. This riffle consistantly shoots 1/2 -3/4" groups at 100 yds regardless of outside temp. By far the most accurate powder/bullet combination i've ever tried with this rifle. Despite being a large caliber round it's accurate enough i even use it for varmit hunting and my nephew likes shooting bricks with it at 400 yards.

I use this powder for my 7.62x54r reloads .. 44-45.5 grains gives me velocity of 2395-2450 or so fps. Groupings @ 100yds of about 2" or less. Very consistent powder for my Mosin/Nagant loads. I use PPRI Brass and same 150gr FMJ-BT bullets.
I couldn't be happier.
