What bait produces the most action when using the Hyper-Umbrella Trolling Rig for hybrid stripers?Answers

This question as an array of variable answers.Typically tend to feed and many depths depending on the season...time of day...weather..e.tc. When you troll umbrella rigs you should stay around boat speed of 1.5-2.5 knots....this is variable because of current speed. The more weight on the rigs and more line out on your reel the deeper the bait goes. The less weight on your rigs and the less line out on your reels the shallower you rig runs.
1/2 oz to 1 oz bucktail jigs with 3-4" swimbaits attached - on a 2oz umbrella rig should cover many depths for you to start off with. Green Chartreuse, yellow chartreuse, white are good striped bass colors to start with.

This is not a Sabiki Rig. This is an Umbrella Rig. Two very different rigs.If the 3 outside leaders are the same length and have around the same weight of baits you should be fine.

There are six hooks in a rig. No bait is used.A:Â
No I don't beleave so It seemed to work just fine when I lost one of four baits.

There are various ways to rig this item.*** Please keep in mind some states limit a certain number of hooks per rod. Please check your state regulations because the fine is hefty.
*** The Umbrella rig should be balanced however you set it up. After you set it up hold it from the top with the jigs and teasers hanging below to see if all arms are balanced. If they are not balanced you will most likely get tangled frequently while dragging these behind the boat.
1. you can put teasers (without hooks just plastic, feathers or spoons on swivels) on all 6 arm loops and use the center and the loaded jig. (6 teasers) (1 hook)
2. You can put loaded jigs on the end of each arm and use the arm center loops for teasers as well as the center swivel. (4 teasers) (3 hooks)
3. You can put loaded jigs on the end of each arm as well as the center and use he arm center loops for teasers. (3 teasers) (4 hooks)
*The more teasers you use the more it resembles a school of bait.
*Use a good heavy duty swivel to connect the umbrella rig to your 25lb+ line. This rig will often spin in the water.
*Teasers can be connected to the loops using a regular swivel and a small split ring.
*Length of leaders will vary from 8"-16" just make sure everything balances. I usually use longer leaders in clear water.
