I've recently added Turkey to my hunting experience. First year was a success. Luckily I had native Barred Owls locating for me. I wanted to add this hooter call to my pack in case I find myself hunting in an area without the help of a native owl. I've been practicing with it and was able to get responses from actual Barred Owls. I don't think I'll have any trouble using it to locate Ole Tom.

For years my "go to" roost locator was the H.S. Strut Hoot Tube, and I killed dozens of birds with it. I just received a Limb Shaker as a gift the night before our season opener here in Kentucky. I used to put a little etch mark on my calls for every Tom, this call will be covered in just a couple years. For those of you that can't use it, get somebody to show you how.

This is likely my favorite locator in the early morning and when "putting a bird to bed" in the evenings. For extra realism, flutter your tongue at the end of the final note for that realistic "rolling" at the end of an owls hoot.
