This finder fully meets my expectations of a $100 wireless fish finder. I occasionally fish smaller bodies of water and this gives me water temp, depth and an idea of the structure below with a range out to about 70'. When fishing from shore my cast often exceed this distance but at least I know what there is out to that range. A quick read of the documentation that came with the finder made setup and use pretty easy.

I have been through two of these. On the second, the transponder died on day 1 after about 4 hours of use.
Just not a reliable product.

Before I bought this product I read a lot of reviews on this product and herd some negative feed back such as hard to use and not very accurate. I found just the opposite I do a lot of fishing from banks and found this product very user freindly as long as you read the directions and pratice with the simulation mode before using in the water and is as accurate as fish finders you would use on your boat. I was suprised by how much detail this product has for its size. $100.00 a very fair price. You will not regret this purchase I don't wish I would have bought it sooner.

It works great!!
Easy to read display, easy to set-up and very easy to use!
Only complaint is shutting it off. Directions are incorrect. Just wait for it to display "waiting for info" and do the reverse of the directions!
Viola'!
My husband used it every day of our vacation, and said it was just as accurate as the depth finder on the boat.
Being able to cast it out away from the boat gave us a better idea of just exactly what was under us!

I occasionally fish small lakes from an inflatable raft (only way to get a boat on these waters) and will "drag" it behind me as I row along. I have only fihed it on waters up to 35' but it scales up to 120'(which is the published spec). I would be comfortable endorsing its use on similar waters.A:

The transducer is placed on the end of a fishing rod/line and cast out to where you want to see the depth...while reeling it in it will show the depth changes (bottom) on the watch face.A:
The SmartCast is a wireless fishfinder that is incredibly easy to use. Simply attach the Remote Sonar Sensor (RSS) to the end of your fishing line and cast it into the water as you would a normal float or lure. Then power on the SmartCast RF35 and the SmartCast system uses sonar technology to send sound waves from the RSS into the water. The returned “echoes” are transmitted with wireless technology to the RF35 and plotted on the display. New information appears on the right. As this information moves to the left a very accurate picture of the underwater world is created, including objects such as the bottom, fish, and structures, as well as the depth of the bottom. The Remote Sonar Sensor has a separate, non-replaceable lithium battery that has a shelf life of three years and will last for approximately 500 hours of in-water use
