I have been using my units for a few months now. I have a 998 on the console and a 798 on the bow. The units have worked great. There is a learning curve with the units. And I am still learning about them. I have had the boat out probably 20 times in 2 months. They have really helped my fishing and finding structure. Can't go wrong with the 998 or the 798.

As soon as I had it installed on my skiff I just scanned the lake for two stright days in amazement! It has sure increased the numbers of fish in the boat. I would recommend for beginners to advanced fishermen.

I purchased this unit three weeks ago and have taken it to the lake 5 times since. The installation was easy and I was ready in a day. The first two times out all I did was scan for hours and marked good positions that I didn't know existed on the lake. Very good picture quality and side image worked to perfection, however I noticed it took about 30-45 minutes before the GPS would start up. I contacted Hummingbird after several failed attempts to fix it myself, and we attempted to resolve the issue. I have to say that they make you feel that the reason the unit isn't working properly is your fault from the start. After an hour of unsuccessful attempts of moving the antenna, rebooting, unplugging wires, (things I had already tried and failed.) Hummingbird decided that I needed a new antenna. They shipped one to me and it did not work either. On top of all that, they expected me to pay to return the antenna! I contacted Hummingbird and was told that this is how they always do exchanges, so I told them that if they can't design a $2000+ dollar unit without flaws plus expect the customer to pay more to fix it, they can keep their unit. I am returning it to B.P.S. today. I will wait until Lowrance designs a 360 unit and purchase it. Never had any trouble with a Lowrance product.
