Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by bad deal for me gps takes 5 to 10 min. to load also alarms turned to high stiil cannot hear them well. no my hearing is not bad April 12, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very poor GPS Performance I'm very surprised by the other two reviews because my experience with two of these units is very different. I do not nor have I ever worked for a GPS or fishfinder manufacturer. I am a retired individual that likes boating and fishing. My review: The GPS on this unit does a cold start if the unit has been shut down for more than two hours. This means a 5 to 10 minute wait time for a GPS lock. The GPS also has very poor sensitivity and will lose lock often if in the open with an overcast sky. This is with the unit mounted on the dash in the open with no obstruction of the entire sky. I didn't experiment with the unit being covered, but assume it will not lock at all if it is covered by a boat top. I had Humminbird send me a replacement unit and it also performed exactly the same as described above. Also, The depth, speed, temp information are keyed in white boxes on the screen that block much of the chart rather than just keying the digits themselves. A very rudimentary keyer. I returned both units and purchased a different brand which I am very happy with. March 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product Good clear images, better then my 797si. Easy to install. March 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by sweet little unit The 688 DI is a great little unit. I have a 900 series at the console of my boat and I wanted another down imaging unit at my trolling motor. You cant beat this fishfinder for the money. It does everything I hoped it would and more. Once I find a spot I want to fish with my other unit I hop to the bow and start using my trolling motor. I love not having to run back to my console to mark waypoints anymore. DI is very good on this unit as is the gps. If you want a great fishfinder without breaking the bank this is what you need. If you want side imaging you can get that for just 200 more dollars. I really like the price points of the 2014 humminbirds too. March 1, 2014

Hi, the 688ci HD DI Combo features everything needed to make this unit work and find fish. Optional items would be more detailed maps (lakemaster and navionics) or different mounting options like a Ram Mount. Thanks

Yes you can. I use navionics premium with mine. The 600 series is not compatible with the platinum cards from navionics though. Hot maps is another option for you with the 600 series from HB.

A:
the transducer can be mounted to your trolling motor. I have a transom mount transducer for my 900 series hummingbird and I have my new 688 DI mounted in front of my boat with transducer on trolling motor. Havent had any problems with it .

A:
Yes. The standard transducer can be adapted to the trolling motor with the AD XTM 9 or your new unused transducer can be sent in for exchange to the Trolling Motor Transducer.

A:
The Side Imaging and Down Imaging transducers can be adapted to the foot of the Trolling Motor. At this time, there are no plans to incorporate that type of sonar into the Trolling Motors.
