Rated 2 out of 5 by Ken346 Not for the trolling motor Bought this unit for trolling motor mounting. It was a big mistake. I cannot get rid of interference and have tried everything Humminbird suggests in the FAQ section. For the front of the boat it's a real lemon. I'm putting my old Lowrance X87 back on. June 27, 2011

Heard shallow water was a problem, but fished 1-1/2 feet to 8 feet and only had occasional periods where screen did not show clearly. DI worked in 3 & 4 foot with no problem. Was fishing shallow bay with lots of grass. Seems pretty easy to use, but really did not try adjusting. Installation was a snap. June 17, 2011

Rated 4 out of 5 by Simple2loose Kicks Lowrance out the water Got a lowrance unit Elite 5 with gps it a good unit but manuel doesnt explain the unit well and the unit is difficult to use too many menus i dont like spending to day pushing buttons. The hummingbird dsi 986 blows lowrance out of the water alot easier to use and understand the unit itself is put together better and as far a using if this unit show structure its there including fish... Im sure the HB customer support will also win out. June 2, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by djones Awesome If you've never used a sonar device with a 640 vertical pixel count then you owe it to yourself to try it. It's like watching an underwater movie in HD. Simple to set up and use. Amazing quality. What more could you ask for. P.s. I to called humminbird to inquire about the discrepancy between the stated 4000 ptp wattage and the printed on the box number of 2400. The engineer at humminbird told me each 596c HD di had been tested and surpassed the 4000 ptp reading. If you click on the updated specs section on humminbirds web sight under the new di section you'll see the correct specs. Pick this up now you won't regret it May 23, 2011
