  • Tough, accurate, flat shooting hunting bullet
  • Custom propellant blend
  • Unaffected by extreme cold or heat
  • Formulated to increase muzzle velocity by as much as 200 fps without extra chamber pressure, recoil, fouling, or ballistic deviation
  • Polymer tip
  • Extra-heavy jacket and InterLock™

Tough, accurate premium ammunition that stands in a class by itself. The Hornady® Superformance® SST® bullet's custom propellant blend is unaffected by extreme cold or heat, and formulated to increase muzzle velocity by as much as 200 fps without extra chamber pressure, recoil, fouling, or ballistic deviation. Result: absolutely deadly downrange performance! 20 rounds per box.

Superformance® SST® - it IS rocket science!
The SST bullet has earned the reputation as being a tough, accurate, flat shooting hunting bullet. Its polymer tip streamlines the profile to deliver high BC’s and initiate rapid expansion. The extra-heavy jacket and InterLock™ feature reduce the chance of core/jacket separation, while increasing penetration.

Rated 3 out of 5 by not sure what to say I herd nothing but good about the sst, so dicide to try. I took my ruger hawkeye 7mm rem mag out in the field and took 10 shots, they group good. The first shell shot but the next 2 shots were miss fires, and the rest shot fine. I know my gun shoots fine because am a federal guy and have never had a miss fire. I'm noit sure what to say. Happy with how they shot but unsure when the next miss fire is!! November 13, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely Impressed with these Hornady SST Bullets I shoot the 245 grain SST in my 50 cal muzzle loader with great results. I normally shoot Remington Core-Lok 150grain bullets in my 7MM Remington but decided to try the Hornady SST 154 grain bullets. I took these bullets on a hog hunt and killed a 300 lb sow and a 120 lb bore the first two shots I fired. Both animals died in their tracks. Can't wait to shoot a Whitetail with them. I would definitely recommend these bullets. I will shoot them from now on! November 10, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best BANG for your buck Have been using Accubond and Ballistic TIp bullets with good success for years. I wanted to increase velovity in my 300 Win Mag without hand loading, so I tried the 180gr. SST and got MOA groups at 100 yards. Sighted the Mag in @ 200 yds. and went hunting. Opening day, I dropped 2 does, 1@ 225 yds. and the other @ 245 yds. The next day I shot an 8 point @327 yds. All 3 were one shot kills. Two dropped in their tracks and the other went 45'. Can't say enough about the performance. I know now that I will be using this Ammo for a long time. October 25, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fast and accurate In my Ruger Hawkeye 25/06 I am getting just over 1 inch groups on a rushed range session. I didn't know what to expect because I previously had tried 120gr Corelokt and they were around 3" groups. This was very close to 1" so I am pleased so far. And I picked them up for $28 so that is great too since a lot of folks charge a premium for the 25/06 rounds around here. This weekend I hope to have a terminal performance report on a whitetail. Only one thing I noticed. If I don't slam the bolt closed it doesn't eject the shell properly. It sits on the follower. Don't know if it's the round or if it's my bolt's fault. I'll get ahold of some other rounds and find out. October 14, 2010

A:
I am not aware of Hornady hollow points in rifle ammo. They do provide a ballistic tip that sort of acts like a hollow point but has
better trajectory capabilities.

A:
The SSTs are a polymer tipped soft pointed bullet, Not a hollow point. But as far as bullet expansion/knockdown power- these SSTs make hollow points look like FMJs. They are the hardest hitting, biggest exit hole making bullet i have ever shot.

A:
The .270 superformance ammo from hornady use a polymer tipped bullet, and I do not think they offer a hollow point bullet for any .270 cartridge.

A:
This ammo features the SST bullet which has a polymer tip that initiates expansion quickly upon striking the target. Hollowpoint rifle bullets are typically found in match loads where ultimate accuracy is the only goal. The .270 is a hunting cartridge, and thus not normally loaded with hollow point projectiles. I shot a one inch group @100yds using a Browning A-Bolt and Superformance .270 ammo. It's good stuff!
