Rated 5 out of 5 by rockchalk06 Best dies ever There are rifle dies, then there are Hornady Rifle dies. If Hornady makes dies for a caliber I load for, I own them. Quality, price and toughness are major selling points for these dies. Hornady dies are the cleanest dies out of the box. A lot of brands require major cleaning of factory grease and oil before use. This is not the case with Hornady dies. They are lightly oiled ad very clean. I am very impressed with the cases these dies come with. They are very stack able and hold everything very nicely. Shell holder, dies, extra lock rings and all the case trimming equipment, o-give etc. Hornady dies are some of the most accurate dies I have ever loaded with. Hornady's quality control must be top notch. I have never had a set of their dies that had burs, nicks or any defects in workmanship. For the options these dies come with, you would expect to pay twice as much. If your just getting into hand loading, or want a better set of dies, give these a shot. September 9, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by casapp465 as good as some $100 sets I own Forster bump dies, RCBS, Redding, and Lyman and Lee. Let me just say, the bullet guide works great seems imposible to tip bullet on seating. Also coating is very nice, I cast lead on some rifle dies and these will roll crimp if needed. Also who wants a die that its lock nut has a set screw that damages threads, Hornady don't and they have a place to put standard wrenches on. Also I damaged bullet guide with stem my self told them my fault they replaced anyway. I own over a dozen now except for Redding and Forster I'll use no other! August 17, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by steelslinger Junk I love Hornday bullets so I bought 2 of their die sets. One for 300wm and one for 500s&w. Decapping pins in both dies bent within a few weeks. I emailed Hornday several times and got no reply. I will continue to buy their bullets but that is the only thing with Hornady written on it that I will own. February 10, 2011

A:For the .308 Win you will need item number 38-887-777-00, which they are full length only. Thanks
A:Just to clear this up for anyone that reads the answers to this question and gets confused. YES, these are carbine rifle dies. And no, there are no shell holders included.

A:Not unless it says they are
A:The die set WILL WORK with a LNL AP press. As with ALL HORNADY DIES, they come with a factory "CLP" on them that MUST BE REMOVED! If you do not remove the factory lubrication from the dies, you will end up making rounds that can very easily be off.
The dies are coated from the factory with a rust preventative so you receive them rust-free. Take the dies apart, and clean them with a cleaner like One-Shot or comparative.
The coating of oil on the die sets MUST BE REMOVED!
The LNL AP Press is a indexing, progressive press. That said. You'll need the appropriate shell plate # for the caliber you are reloading. You only need one shell-plate per caliber. It looks kind of like a bicycle gear, and it'll state specifically which shell plate # to get on the die-set. You can also look it up on Hornady's website if Bass Pro's site has a lack of information.

A:Yes they do. The die will screw securely down in the lock n load bushings as well as be the right length for the shell plates
