Rated 5 out of 5 by Great bullets I shoot a knight muzzle loader and these bullets work really well with this gun. its a Hornady bullet so you know it will perform! October 31, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by great bullet Used this 300 gr. sabot for a few years now. 100 grains tripple 7 out of an old Ruger. Easy to load and carry. Have 3 speed loaders on stock and it doesent get any easier than that. 50 to 135 yds dead on. Great knock down power with lots of expansion. Also have had a few thru and thru's. Haven't missed one yet. Keep up the good work Hornady. November 25, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not For Traditions XLT Thought i would give these a try before the upcoming season..they just don't work in my Traditions XLT Knoxx Anti-Recoil..6 to 9 inch groups at 100 yards with some flyers..not knocking the round...just don't work in my Traditions...sticking with the Barnes MZ Expander...1 to sub 1 inch groups at 100 yds..3 inch groups at 200 yds November 21, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hornady Lock & Loads I have been using these bullets for some time now. The accuracy is equal to a high power rifle when I shoot these out of my Remington 700 Muzzleloader. Easy to load and sure ignition with the 209 Primers and pellets. October 19, 2010

My question is can this be used without the sabot? I attempted to use one the other day and it squished the first pelletand had a missire so in order to use the bullets up Id like to try one without the sabot attached.

The only possible way I could Imagine being able to safely use the bullet in the way you are wanting to would be to use it with a patch just as you would a round ball. Or find someone who reloads and needs your size bullet for there brass. Hope that helps, honestly I have never crushed a pellet with these, take care to mark your ram rod once the bullet is seated and you should be able to avoid that from happening.

if you use with out the sabot, you will not have the gas seal you need. you wont get accuracy because the bullet would be loose in the bore and wouldnt come in contact with the rifling. i would recommend using the sabot and try not seating the bullet so hard

No you can not. the round is to small try lubeing the bore with TC Natural Lube Bore Butter I am shooting a Remington Genesis with Pyrodex 50-grain pellets. Remington 209 Kleanbore Muzzleloading Primers Hornady 250-grain Low Drag Sabots and it works just fine. just keep youre gun clean. run a patch down the bore every therd to forth shot with some Cleaner on it and it shuld be fine. hope this helps you. FYI the Remington 209 Kleanbore primers are key to a clean gun.
