I gave hornady a try on this and was disappointed. I use an 870 rem with a Remington TRKY Super Full choke. I thought maybe it was just my barrel and choke so I had a buddy pattern it as well, he has an 870 with a diff choke.
Here were the results:
through my barrel and choke at 40 yards aiming at the top of the turkey head I didn't have any pellets in the kill zone, they all would have been found in the breasts of the turkey.
through my buddy's barrel and choke at 30 yards the pattern spread out over 3 feet wide with little opportunity to find pellets in the kill zone.
I understand diff ammos work really well in diff barrels and choke combos, thats why we pattern our guns right? But Hornady has a long way to go with so many 870 barrels and Super Full Turkey Choke hunters out there... Does anyone really know what Hornady was thinking?

I have never shot a turkey but have sighted in my gun for pheasents and rabbitsand compared these shells with my winchester #6 with no flite control. The hornady did much better, not confident enough for fifty but for sure 45. I use a remington 870 with a long beard barrel with modified choke, get a good sight, def need it to see the beards that far away.

i purchased the heavy magnum load in the 3 inch number 4 shot. I came home to pattern it and it done poorly at 30 yards and beyond. I was shooting these rounds out of a thompson center encore with a primos jelly head .660. They patterned so poorly I grabbed a 2 3/4 inch number 4 shell and it patterned amazing. Looks like i will be going to a federal load that everyone have spoken highly of.

I prefer federal turkey loads but tried these in 12g #4 shot. took a big gobbler at 44 yards. Used a Stevens 512 O/U with full chokes..would have been 5 stars but took a long time for the turkey to finally die, although that may be due to the distance it was shot.. I still prefer my Federals
