I paired the 200gr. bullets with my Thompson Center Encore muzzleloader. Combined with 100 grains of Triple 7 pellets the bullet is moving well over 2000fps with plenty of knock down power and accuracy. I shot about a 4 1/2 year old buck this past muzzleloader season in Ohio and it weighed close to 300lbs. I shot it from just under 180 yds with the rangfinder, and it dropped him in his tracks, the way the bullet turned into shrapnel jolting his insides into jelly. I can consistently hold my Encore less than half inch groups they're usually cutting the same hole at 100yds and under 4in. at 200yds.

Why doesn't Hornady offer the FTX bullet in .451 for reloaders? It is available in loaded ammunition.
Answers
A:Â
FTX stands for Flex Tip, its just a bit softer than the SST. Its softer so that it can be loaded into a tubular magazine and not set of the round in front of it. The SST is ment to be used in a stacking magazine. They will or should shoot exactly the same. Hornady makes a very good bullet. I use these in my 450 bushmaster hand loads.Answers

The .452 bullet is for the .45 Long Colt. The .451 is for the .45 ACP.
It's only 1/1000 difference, but you could get dangerous pressure increases and accuracy problems.
Stick with the proper diameters as recommended by your reloading manuals.

If it is a .452 it will fit both.A:Â
Depends on what gun your shooting, example, 45 long colt is only for the gun that shoots it, acp stands for automatic colt pistol, uses a parabellum bullet, some pistols (revolvers) will shoot 45 acp bullet also.1 of 1
