These are Duds 12 duds altogether, 4 shot the second time around, 8 never ignited at all. this is out of 80 I ordered in the hornady .45 colt "cowboy ammunition" brand. I don't know about you but thats not an acceptible ratio of good and bad bullets. Especially at a total cost of over a dollar a round. Stay away from these!!! 3 duds per 20 rounds. BOO. I understand that no ammo is perfect as far as duds go, either i won the dud lottery or these are poorly manufactured. May 3, 2009
great 9mm defense ammo Bought this with a gift card I received for christmas, 147gr was the most accurate group ive ever had from my glock 26. Groups measured 2.5 center to center @ 50 ft. from a rest. Ive taken two deer with my .41 mag loaded with xtp's so Im not worried about terminal ballistics either. Will be in my carry gun from now on January 27, 2015
45 Calibur Hornady's I have a Springfield Armory M1911A1. After cleaning and oiling my pistol, I fired a box of the.45 calibur rounds through it. Atleast one out of every four rounds did not eject properly, causing the pistol to jam. January 1, 2009
Another Great Product from Hornady I use the 180-grain XTP loads in my 10mm Auto and they perform flawlessly. I'm not great with a handgun, but they give me above average groups compared to loads from other manufacturers. They also perform well on game--I've taken one whitetail doe and a pair of coyotes with this load, none ran more than 50 yards. Also, at this price for 10mm loads, I can afford to shoot a lot more. A:
Some people will say even a 357 is too small for deer but if your confident in your shooting and place it correctly then 357 will definetely do the job. I wouldnt recommend 38s just because of the loss of velocity. My father was a big proponent of deer hunting with a 357 and i know of 2 he took with lung shots from his ruger

357 Magnum absolutely. I myself would not use 38spl for hunting deer.

.357 mag. would be bare minimum to hunt deer up close. Better to go with .44 mag. in a hand gun with Hornady ammo.

It would not be a "good" option but it would work in .357. Check with your state but .357 is usually the minimum power requirement for deer. The Hornandy custom would be a good selection for hunting if you HAD to use .357. You would want at least a 6" barrel to get enough velocity. Hope that helps

MOST STATES HAVE A CALIBER MININUM, USUALLY A .357 MAG IS THE SMALLEST MOST STATES WILL ALLOW YOU TO USE. A 44 MAG WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER CHOICE

I hate to answer with a question, but...At what range?

As you probably know, velocity drops quick after the bullet reaches the muzzle and even faster past 50 yards.

The .357 hollow points will deliver excellent energy and expansion out to 50 yards. The .38 will deliver similar velocity, but since the mass of the bullet is lower, you won't likely get adequate energy for a kill.

.357 should work well for deer, 38 specials would probably be a little weak
