Henry® Lever Action Youth Rifle 5 5 1 1
Quick-handling carbine I bought the Henry H001Y lever-action youth rifle after enjoying a H001 for a year and needing a second rifle because I shoot everyday. If anything, the "youth" gun seems more accurate than the classic Henry .22. It was an absolute "tack driver" right out of the box. The American walnut wood is luxurious and I've outfitted the gun with Hi-Viz fiber optic front and rear sights for twilight plinking. As a small-framed person I really enjoy my two compact, quick-handling Henry lever carbines! In addition, the purchasing experience at the Manteca, CA Bass Pro store including all the California and Federal paperwork went smoothly. July 9, 2012

Answer this Question

Based on what I read at rimfire central forums, Remington ammo is not very uniform and accuracy is not very good.

They also do not like Winchester 333 and 555 round pack ammo.

And Colibri (as opposed to Super Colibri) is not for rifles, only pistols. Because the velocity is so low a bullet could get stuck in a barrel over a foot long. Super colibri is faster f.p.s. and the forum shooters like it the Henry 22 lever. All Colibri ammo is very quiet. Colibri is as long as a .22 short. Super Colibri is long as a .22 Long. Aguila does not make a .22 Long Rifle Colibri. But CCI does is called .22 Quiet (not nearly as quiet as Super Colibri). There are youtube videos of folks shooting super colibri inside their garage with the door closed.

Most all other brands (except Remingon and 333 or 555 Winchester) feed without any problems. Other Winchester .22 ammo is better and works very well. In general, a round point bullet works a bit more reliably than a truncated hollow point round.

Also .22 short and .22 long cycle in these guns very well, as does .22 long rifle. They all do very well in my Henry .22 Youth and I have tried many brands and types (I never tried Win 333/555 and all Remington).

The Henry H001Y will shoot .22 Shorts, .22 Longs, and .22LR and the tubular magazine holds a lot of rounds.
