Great surface lure This baby walks the dog like no other!............ August 8, 2011
great classic! For the lakes up here in Canada these lures are the bomb for pike, of course you also catch wicked largemouth from time to time and yes if you're going for pike you should replace the split rings and trebbles but I do this to many great lures anyway since I'm a big fan of gamakatsu and is not a good reason to rate it lower. The action is all I am concerned about and this thing blows many topwater lures out of the water literally! It's very easy to walk and produces fish after fish and is so alive looking that I've had seagulls, frogs, snakes, and turtles follow or take a nip at it! Great Lure! A must have! June 10, 2011
Change the hooks I am amazed that a "saltwater" lure would have such poor quality hooks and eye rings. The lure "walks" like a champ and I use them to fish for stripers. I lost a 10 lb striper (which is not big as stripers go) and the eye ring on the middle treble pulled straight. Suggest that you change out the hooks and eye rings since the manufacturer does not feel it is important to put quality hooks and rings on their product. November 17, 2006
Great with modifications What I normally do with this big walker is remove the trebles that come with the lure. Then I replace them with just two sets of number 1 saltwater trebles leaving the center hanger empty. This bait needs to be used on a rod that can handle it properly so a medium heavy to heavy bait cast rig works best. Also with a properly tuned reel this plug throws a long way. September 20, 2009

What color?

Details:
I have this lure in silver mullet and have fished it down in Grand Isle after Christmas but have had no luck with it. I think it was only because the bite was just not on last year. Is the silver mullet a good color for that area at that time of the year or should I try out another color?
Thanks

whenever fishing top water, you need to take into consideration the water temperature, clarity, is it sunny, cloudy... all of these things play into weather or not you should fish top water. I have found that sunrise and sunset times when the weather is warm are the best times for me to use spooks and other top water. this is far more important than color. for color, match the bait fish in your fishery

A:
YES IT WORKS VERY WELL WITH STRIPER AND HYBRID BASS. I HAVE ALSO CAUGHT LARGEMOUTH ANS WHITE BASS WITH IT ALL ABOUT 2 HOURS BEFORE DARK WHEN THEY START FEEDING. ALSO EARLY IN THE MORNING FROM SUNRISE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. CHARTRUSE COLORS AND BONE WHITE SEEM TO WORK THE BEST HERE IN MISSOURI. SOLID CHARTRUSE IS THE PREFERED COLOR. WE JUST USE A WALK THE DOG PATTERN OR JUST POP IT QUICK. FAST BUT NOT TOO FAST. A MEDIUM RETREVE SEEMS TO WORK BEST. GIVE IT A TRY AND GOOD LUCK.

works great best time is during spawn season and fall when the shads are shallow and at dawn and dust . just simply cast it out as far as u can then walk it back. try diferent speed and hold on tight. here in cali we get lots of boils(fish trapping shad on surface) ill throw past thoes boils then walk it right over the boil 50% catch ratio but u got to b fast boil dont last long. best of luck and GOD BLESS
