This is good in the fact that it has water and utensils in it so you don't have to have anything else to enjoy a hot meal, but the quality was a little disappointing. If you don't mind boiling water, stick to Mountain House, their quality is far superior to this heater meal.

I bought the first one of these back in July to see if it would be suitable in a care package for my nephew. After eating, we determined that it was a bit to heavy to mail to Afghanistan. Then I went back to the store and got some more.
In late July, while on my way to a campsite for a two week event, I stopped in Cincinnati and bought a case of mixed meals and a case of the breakfast meals (Hey, Bass Pro, why don't you carry the breakfast meals?) Remembering that Tabasco is your friend, I found that I enjoyed eating all except one of the eight meals that are available.
I even went to Bass Pro yesterday and bought six more for a trip this weekend, and the left overs from the July trip have been eaten while sitting beside the Red with a fishing pole beside me.
As for this particular flavor: First, there are _no_ potatoes in it; Second, it's a toss up as to whether this or the BBQ is my favorite; Third, this one is, literally, mouth watering!

This meal wasn't too bad overall. The thermal heater warmed the food nicely even on a cold snowy NY day. The meal was tasty for the most part. My only complaint was that the potatoes were something like the consistency of a thick freeze dried potato slice. They were still edible and didn't taste too bad, just a weird consistency. The meal includes everything required to prepare and eat it. I'd buy this meal again. For packing it into the woods, I recommend removing it from the box to save space.

Makes a great demonstration of exotheric chemical reactions, but don't eat it. Tastes bad, tough and gristly. Keeps well, but is just as heavy as canned goods and not nearly as tasty.
