I bought this rifle just before the Gardner plant closed in Mass. It was the historic factory for generations for H&R. I don't know if the guy that made it knew he was about to get laid off or what, but it is the finest firearm I have ever owned or seen. The metal to metal fits on it is perfect, the blue is perfect, and the stock and forearm are matched perfect to the metal. When the action closes it closes smoothly like the door on a Rolls Royce. I can't say enough good about it. I have fired about 200 rds.through it.I have fired storebought 405 grn.Remingtons to handloaded 500 grn. Hornandy Interlock bullets. They all performed great. My favorite rd is a handloaded Hornandy 325 grn.FTX with 50 grns.of H4198 pushing it. It hits right on the money at 100 yds with the Williams open sight that comes stock on it. The factory sighted it in and I have not touched the sight since I got it. I can't tell you why I bought it.I don't hunt anything but paper but it is knowing that anything that lurks on land in North America can be taken with this rifle is a very comforting feeling having it in my safe.
