This knife works as a great skinner. Have used on 10+ deer and 3 elk. Makes field dressing so much easier and faster. T-shaped handle is great with slippery hands or cold fingers.
When combined with the E-Z Saw and the E-Z Open metolius knife, I can dress a deer in less than 5 minutes!
Factory edge is somewhat dull... So what!? Any outdoorsman should be able to put and keep an edge on his knife. Highly recommed the Lansky sharpening system for that.

I have tried numerous Gerber knives over the past 20 years. I had hoped their blades were better quality by now. But they are not. Their blades have always come dull and when you sharpen them, they never hold an edge for more than 2 to 3 uses. I am sticking with my trusty Buck knife! I dont purchase Gerber products anymore. I received this as a gift.

I got to use it for the first time this past weekend and I would say it worked quite well. When I got the tool in I was dissapointed in the sharpness of the blade so I sharpened it before I ever used it. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. B/c of this I was suspicious of how sharp the gut hook would be but it worked very well. I would recoment this to a friend.
