Designed by Gerber and Bear Grylls, the Ultimate Knife is loaded with innovations. Ultimate Knife features include a 1/2-serrated, high-carbon stainless steel blade that's ideal for edge retention and cutting rope. The textured rubber grip maximizes comfort and reduces slippage. A stainless steel pommel at the base of the handle may be used for hammering. A lightweight, military-grade sheath is mildew resistant and holds a ferrocerium rod for starting fires. A striker notch is incorporated into the back of the knife blade. The sheath also includes land-to-air rescue instructions, a diamond sharpener, and ''Priorities of Survival”—a pocket guide containing Bear's survival essentials. Blade length: 4.8". Imported.

After hearing the mixed reviews about this knife when it first came out I was hesitant about buying one. But man this is an awesome knife. Nice and sturdy feeling. It really does feel like a survival knife should feel like. I really like the rubberized handle on it too. Really grippy. The whistle is loud and the fire steel on it works great. My only complaint is it's not that sharp out of the box. But a little time on the stone can take care of that. If you're in the market for a survival knife i'd definitely recommend this one.

Although I don't like Bear Grylls, This knife is a well thought knife. The blade feels like it could take tons of abuse, not a huge fan of the serrated edge, but it is short enough that it doesn't get in the way when using the straight one. The fire starter was a nice add on, along with the sharpening diamond plate in the back of the sheath. The rubber grip might not appeal to the traditional people, but it is very comfortable.
The sheath was designed so that you can put the knife in, in either direction, so if you are a lefty and like to carry it on the left, all you have to do is turn the knife and the handle is facing the right direction for a lefty draw. The whistle is pretty powerful, and very small. Over all a very well thought knife with great features that can come in handy. The only negative comment I have about this knife is that it has "Bear Grylls" written all over it... If they would make the same knife without the bear grylls stuff, they would sell more of them ;)

this knife is great. its everything i expected and hoped for in a knife. its durable and tough like a true survival knife should be. the only glitch i have is the belt loops, they are too small. but i have ways to imprevise and resolve that problem. im very pleased with this knife and thank my wife for getting it for me.

I Like this knife it feels alot more stronger than my leatherman Ukiah, and it feels really heavy and tough,
im not a big fan of the serrated section personally but it is nice and shap.
the handle is comfortable and grippy so no probs there and i like its balance.
the firelighter is pretty cool i was expecting the blade would need to be used to strike it but it has a section on the back of the blade for that purpose, thats awesome.
the sheath probably could of benifeted from being all plastic (like a divers knife) or at least had bigger belt loops, its going to be a pain to fit to webbing, or a thicker style of belt, im not sure its made to last either, being nylon fiber
other the very minor sheath issues (compared to the plusses) im quite pleased with this knife overall

The issue was with the pommel of the knife coming off in a few rare cases. The issue has long since been fixed and anything you purchase today will be fine. I have used my knife as a hammer pretty often and I don't have any issues.

If you break it you will get a new knife, so really you have nothing to be concerned with!Also they have addressed the issues with the production line.

I heard they were having problems with the handle, but I believe that was fixed which would make this version 2. I have hammered with mine several times and have not cracked the handle. Hope this helps because this is really a very nice knife to have.Answers

I believe this is a overall good anything knife! Great for camping, hunting, backpacking etc. I have used mine when we go camping and backpacking. It has a fire starter, sharpener, whistle and more to help you in any situation. With the orange color, it makes it easier to see or to be seen. I will not go out in the woods without it!A:Â
It's a very nice knife to have handy, but as for a pure hunting knife, it's OK. I think there are much better options out there with non-serrated blades & gutting hooks.Although if you want, you can tie this one to a big stick and go primal spear hunting!
