I selected this parang for its compact size and solid construction. I wanted a machete type knife for bank fishing in heavily wooded areas, the areas I regularly walk and wade when fishing. I wanted quick access to a relatively short and light machete, one that wouldn't weigh me down or hang up on brush, yet would be effective in cutting limbs and brush. This version is full-tang, has a thin, flat, comfortable and very secure handle, and its the optimum length and heft for my specific application. I carry it on sling across the chest where I can easily get to it with one hand. Thus far its the best product I have found for my application.

I like this product many feel that handle will get slippery when wet. I have found that looping the chord around the handle and this helps from keep the hand from slipping. over all I find the blade strong and light.

I use gloves when using this so no slippage problems, although I can see where that could become a problem. My complaint is that the belt loop on the back is for SMALL width belts only. If you use it on a wide belt it will not fit. I tend to like wide belts in the 1 3/4 range and this will not fit.
The blade is sharp and does not skitter along whatever you are cutting, or at least it did not do so for me.

Blade is strong and sharp. Rubberized handle gets slick when sweating.
