Tested and proven on California lunkers, Gary Yamamoto's Senko has quickly become a sensation throughout the United States. The Senko is salt impregnated, has a healthy profile, casts like a bullet, and features a unique smooth-and-even horizontal fall when fished weightless or wacky style. Yamamoto Senkos are not magic, but pretty darn close.

  • Salt-impregnated
  • Casts like a bullet
  • Unique fall when fished weightless or wacky style
Gary Yamamoto Senko - 5'' 4.7 5 456 457
Ruining me as Bass Fisherman These work so well I find it hard to use different techniques in the clear water I fish in. I will be catching fish using the Senko, then try something new, and see my catch rates drop. I go back to the Senko, and start catching fish at an accelerated rate again. These work so well I have children catching nice Bass with them the first time out. If I could only use one lure the rest of my life it would be the Senko. July 21, 2009
Senko Baits Are Simply The Best Since discovering Yamamoto Senko Baits at a fishing demonstration about two years ago, I've used almost nothing else. They simply out-perform everything else I've tried, it's really quite amazing. The 5" Senko doesn't look fancy, but it catches fish consistently. It has enough weight to cast quite far without a sinker, and is easy to rig weedless on a worm hook. For some reason, Senko baits just trigger strike after strike, I don't understand why, but they do. I've told several other people about them, and they've had similar results. I never go out now without a full compliment of Yamamoto baits in my tackle box! June 29, 2007
can't beat the senko Do alot of large mouth fishing in indiana. Always can count on the Yamamoto senko to catch them. Love the color combo. Fish them wacky style...... November 22, 2014
Great spring bait Best when fished weightless wacky style. Bass generally hit in on the fall. Watch your line closely, they will often pick up the Senko and move toward your boat. Always use an "O" ring or you will lose a ton of Senkos. September 11, 2014

A:
Yes, a Senko on a drop-shot rig works those deeper schools of fish holding tight to structure. Tie the hook on with a Palomar knot, leaving an extra long tag end to attach a split shot or drop shot weight. Nose-hook the Senko for maximum action or tex-pose it on the hook for a weedless presentation. Let your lure go to the bottom and slowly twitch the line. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojQjmsIoTQc.

Thank you!

Yes you can, these can be used for practically any application. I have found the most effective for me to be weightless texas rig, weightless wacky rig, and wacky rig on a jig head sometimes in deeper water.

these might be a little to bulky for drop shot i prefer smaller thinner profile baits that have good action with rod twitches for the drop shot. Senkos are best used weightless texas or carolina rigged

The best way is to rig them is wacky style for drop shotting. Then when you shake your rod tip slightly, the worm wiggles on both ends.

Senko's are a bit fragile for wacky rigging. If you want to wack-rig a stick bait, I suggest the Yum Dinger.

I have the best results fishing senko's weightless, from the heat of the summer until early winter.

This is my first year with a baitcaster, so I'm no pro, but I think I'm pretty good with it already. Unfortunately fishing worms weightless is best in my area due to how weedy our waters are. Will I be alright using these without a weight? Or should I stick to spinning rods for my worming?

Yes, they cast beautifully on a baitcaster weightless, because of its design.

depends on the reel, you would have to try different settings. I like to use a stiff spinning rod

no problem with any rods and fishing them weightless is great because the way they fall is how the fish reacts. just be ready to set the hook and reel it in enjoy

Absolutely. This worm casts further than its competitors but costs more. Believe me, it's worth it. The wacky worm technique works well also.

i used them on both set ups, spinning rod for dock fishing and baitcasting for open weed beds, these baits are heavy enough to fish on a baitcaster without getting a birds nest granted the reel is set right, i will be useing these baits over the other more expensive brands, in my own opinion i think they work just as good

I prefer the 6 inch Senko, but by all means throw 10 inch worms or bigger. Don't forget to size up your hooks when throwing monster plastics. Nothing is worse than missing a fish. Regarding plastic worms I like to throw up on the shore and slither the worm into the water. Do throw these baits in heavy vegetation.

depending on the worm it can be. I tend to use the 7 in senkos which do not have a tail so if its about a 7in worm with a 3in tail i believe it wouldnt be to big

Yes. A 10" worm texas rigged weightless will swim through grass and attract bites.

I doesn't hurt to try. Large mouth bass can prey on items 25-50% of their body size. That said, we have caught large mouth bass as large as 15 lbs with just the 5" Senko worm.

The bigger the better here in florida. Never fished michigan but my father used 10-12 inch culprits and he caught a boat load when he was there.

You can use a worm that big. You get less bites with it but the bites you get will be from big fish

I think you should stick to using the 5 inch worm, it is plenty big for bass that size. The bigger worms are just to big for bass that size.

Have tried many styles of the larger worms, but have never had much success. Don't know about your area in MI, but I would stick with Yama senko's in 5" and 4". They always do the job.

Here in Maryland we like to show the fish a color contrast. 5 inch Senkos in green/white, or green/pink are working right now.
If you want big bass size up your baits. Try 6 inch Senkos and 10 inch worms on 5/0 hooks, Texas rigged.

A Gary Yamamoto Senko Worm is your best bet. Whacky Rig it and jig it light. The bass will often hit on the fall of the bait so be ready!

I'd say the senko, it seems to do best in 5" and normally a darker green color.

Yama senko in 5" and 4". Have tried many others, and always come back to these. Pick two or three colors and stick with them.

I think so. Just have a variety of colors and you'll catch them in most any situation.
