Very Good Purchase I waited 3 months for this product to come out, and It was worth it in my book. I installed it on a 14ft lowe jon boat I use for fishing freshwater lakes and some inshore saltwater fishing for trout, drum, and rockfish. The downvu sonar is extremely clear, what I mean by clear is, I noticed on the sonar combination of traditional and downvu that the traditional view will show what looks like a stack of bait or rocks but the downvu will have a tree looking object so it really clears up stuff on the bottom. There are also numerous color combinations for each sonar. The navigation chart is accurate although I wish it had the option to load bluechart g2 maps because it does not show tides, currents, channel markers, depths, or anything. It would be good for fishing wrecks or any kind of structure. It is very user-friendly. March 4, 2014

Hello,

Thank you for your question. The installation of the echoMAP 50 is pretty straight forward. If you are not looking to flush mount the device, installation should be able to be completed at your home. In order for the device to operate, only simple power and ground connections are needed. Mounting the device to the dash only requires 3 screws. If you are wanting a more advanced install; I.E. flushmounted in the dash or wired to other marine sensors, it can add to the difficulty. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us using the support link on the Garmin website. We also have an installer locater on the site if you feel you would rather have it professionally installed.

With best regards,
Erick

According to the Garmin Website this unit does not have Chirp. The only unit in this size that does is the GPSMAP® 527xs. I enjoy Bass Pro immensely and do not want anyone thinking they are buying a unit with technology that it does not have. If it has Chirp, I will be even more interested.
