Rated 4 out of 5 by syber2013 it works
bought an echo 200 2 years ago. No problems and worked well. One day (bad weather cold-sleet) fishing a Tourny and the screen turned blue then off and would not turn on anymore. bought another and it pugged into the already mounted base. Turned right on and have had no problems. I think the circut board shorted due to condensation on last one.

i ve had this for over a year and its the only fish finder that don t black out over the reef of 160 to 500 feet in salt water as my humming bird would do and for that i like it i hate the mount so i flush mounted it but i over looked that cause it work deep in the salt water

I was drawn to this the Garmin as it came with the trolling motor mount & that is where I planed on mounting the transducer.
When the unit worked I had no issues with it but I didn't have it long enough to really evaluate it. Took it out 2 times and both times after it had been running for a while the screen would continually get dark until you couldn't read it. Backlight and Contrast made no difference.
Put it under the seat for a while and then hooked it back up and it was fine again for a while then it went black again.
I sent it bacl

I have two Garmin fishfinder 250 units, one in the bow and one at the console and both need replaced. Will this unit hook up to the current wiring used for the 250 model, if not is there an adaptor that will convert the wiring harness? Is the unit the same size or at least close? Would u recommend another unit instead to make the switch easier?Answers
A:
Yes, you would have to purchase the water speed sensor separately. Unfortunately, we no longer carry this sensor. The Garmin part number you need is 010-10279-04 and you can order it directly from Garmin at the link below.https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do...

Will I benefit from a dual beam if I am only fishing in depths less than 200ft?Answers
A:
The 200 kHz frequency shows better detail, has a narrower beam and is typically used in shallower water. The 77 kHz frequency has a wider beam to cover a wider area and can be used as a search tool to locate structure and see more fish.
A:
Single Frequency and Dual beam Frequency. Single frequency is generally best for lakes and shallow coastal fishing. Dual beam transducers are generally better for deep sea fishing. Dual beam transducers limit the beam size for the high frequency beam so these fish finders are truly best for deep water. The advantage of dual beams is the ability to locate large structures more quickly because you are covering more water in one pass. With narrow and wide beams working together, you can locate humps and drop offs and individual fish at the same time. All this information is displayed at the same time on the screen. This makes dual beam units very valuable when scouting for schools of fish and the structures they use.
