The GPS is internal nothing else is required . Garmin has a site that will tell you if the transducer will work. Compare part numbers. You can see the screen anytime day or night and in direct sunlight

Yes, the GPSMAP 740s also features an internal, high-sensitivity GPS receiver (antenna) for superior satellite tracking and quicker acquisition times. Yes, you can see the screen in bright sunlight. I do not show that this unit and 2006c transducers are compatible.Answers

All the 700s series units the transducers are sold separately for. The "s" indicates a built-in sounder, so no separate sounder box is needed as in the 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series units.
