Twitch it, jerk it, swim it, buzz it, weight it, flip it or pitch it—you just can't go wrong with Gambler's Baby Flapp'n Shad—unless you're not interested in explosive top water strikes. The tournament proven Baby Flapp'n Shad is as close to the real thing as it gets, and its unique vertical tail position helps produce a lifelike swimming action. Most effective for bass, but inshore redfish, trout and flounder have hit the Baby Flapp'n Shad with enthusiasm too.

by tbradford Best all around
I have lived in GA and fished for spots, hybrids and striped bass, now live in Miami and fish Biscayne Bay and the ICW. Have caught trout, gag grouper, mangrove snapper and many other less appealing fish like jacks, barracuda, lady fish etc on these lures. I almost always have one on a pole somewhere. Up North they were great in lakes and down here just as much, the 4 inch are the size I use, the only bad thing about them is I loose many from short strikes. There is a reason they are always hard to find.

This shad gave me nothing to rave about. The 4" size is too small for swimming on a EWG hook. It has average tail action on the drop rigged on a jighead, but it's not the first bait I'd reach for if I wanted a shad imitation.
I find Strike King's Caffeine Shad (smokey shad) at 5" a little more for Bass to go after and its bulb tail has a more realistic swagger and lifelike swim.
The larger sized Flapper may offer more Bass appeal, but I'm not impressed enough to buy this one again.

by mtfm Awesome!
I have used this a lot for bass and they just love it. You can either have it with the wide gap hook or a jig head and they love it either way. For sight fishing I love it! The bass hit it with enthusiasm. I have caught bass with this after throwing all sorts of lures at them and one cast with this and BOOM! It is a sweet lure. I am going to use it for salt water fishing here soon and expect the same results.
