Gamakatsu® 4X Octopus Hook
I recently used one of these hooks , size 10/0 , while shark fishing . Upon having a strike , I thought that I just missed having a solid hookup . When I reeled in , to check the bait , I found that my hook was missing . The loop in the leader , where my hook had been , was intact , with no sign of any damage . The leader was of 130 lb. test 7 strand vinyl covered cable , double wrapped through the eye of the hook.. I checked several other identical hooks , to see if it was possible for the leader to have squeezed between the eye and the shank of the hook , where they meet . This was found to be impossible. . Thusly , the only answer is that the eye of the hook simply broke in two. End result is that the fish was lost , and I'm left with several hooks that I'm afraid to use . Maybe this was just an isolated incident , but be advised , of my problem.

As fish hooks go, one of the best (if not THE best) hooks I've ever used. Really heavy duty, practically unbreakable/unbendable. I fish primarily catfish here in Ohio & they are the best hooks I've ever used for cats of ANY size. Been using them over 2 yrs. now. They hold their sharpness extremely well, and can be removed even with pliers without distortion. For all size cats, this is the hook choice for me. Try 'em once & you'll see what I mean.

Use them for trolling for all offshore species, tuna wahoo, mahi, kingsfish, etc. Very seldom gut hook a fish and they hook up much better than a circle hook.
Have never straightened one out.

Good hooks that are sharp and ready to go, didn't get to test on any big fish at this time.
