There are other high-modulus graphite rods as tough and durable as the GL3, but not one of them can match it for weight. Its featherweight construction generates increased casting distance, greater accuracy, more sensitivity— and less fatigue than costlier rods.

From trolling for trout to casting for cruising redfish, the GL3, rod series offers the perfect combination of hook setting power and light weight action to cover every fishing situation. These high-modulus graphite rods are so sensitive you’ll feel everything that happens under the water, but still tough enough to handle any oversized surprise. Its featherweight construction allows you to enjoy longer more accurate casts while experiencing less fatigue. The classic cork handle provides a comfortable grip for all day casting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Rod I've been fishing almost exclusively St Croix rods for the past few years. This year I bought myself the new stradic and decided to pair it with this rod. I got the 7 ft medium light fast action model, and let me tell you: it is absolutely incredible. I'm a fan of stiffer tips, so the fast action was perfect for me. I could cast 1/8 oz jigs a country mile into the wind. Amazing sensitivity as well. I could feel every little bump that came my way. Be it grass touching the jig head or a bait stealer, I felt it. The backbone is also phenomenal. For such a sensitive rod to be able to handle a 6 pound snook amidst mangrove roots is incredible. To sum it up, this rod is worth probably more than it costs. Get yourself one today. March 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by FINEST IT'S SENSITIVITY IS AMAZING, WHEN YOUR FINGERS AND HANDS CAN ACTUALLY FEEL A LEAF BUMP INTO YOUR LINE, YOU'RE DEALING WITH A ROD THAT IS......you'll see. September 28, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Rod This is my firt G Loomis and so far I can tell you that is a high quality , light and very sensitive rod. I have no doubt that it will also has the strength required to handle the migthy peackock bass that are common in the lake that I use to fish. I was also considering the St Croix Bass Tournament but finally decided to purchase this rod and I am very happy. Definitely will be buying more rods of this brand. July 5, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweet rod I matched this rod with a Stradic C14 2500 and love the combo so much I purchased another one the very next day....it's only money! July 1, 2010

A:
Crappie are not big fish, you would want to go with the UL or L rod and the length would depend on whether or not you are fishing from a boat. A good quality spinning reel in the smaller size would be the best reel selection.

You would like to use a MH rod 6'6" length and a fairly stiff tip. Using a rod too limber will produce more hangups than anything.

A:
I have the GL3 7 foot medium heavy, Mag bass rod. I have paired it with a curado reel. I fish plastic worms and light jig and plastics on them. You can only beat this rod with an upgraded IMX or GLX version. A GLoomis rod will make you a better fisherman the second you put it in your hands. I use a Fenwick 6 M action for crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

A:
Jig fishing demands more "feel" than most techniques. Jiggin' rods should be about 5' 9" long, super sensitive with a forgiving tip section and strong backbone. Rigging rods too demand more "feel", they need to be longer around 6'6" and a softer action. It all comes down to your technique and that depends on time and location. Anyway you cut it, fishin' for eyes it's all about feeling the bite.

A GL3 would be fine, but you will want to take a look at the G. Loomis Walleye Series Rods. Search for item number 38-122-120-00 .
