This is my firt G Loomis and so far I can tell you that is a high quality , light and very sensitive rod. I have no doubt that it will also has the strength required to handle the migthy peackock bass that are common in the lake that I use to fish. I was also considering the St Croix Bass Tournament but finally decided to purchase this rod and I am very happy. Definitely will be buying more rods of this brand.

I matched this rod with a Stradic C14 2500 and love the combo so much I purchased another one the very next day....it's only money!

I use this pole with a 2500 series shimano stradic and 30 lb power pro line on it and I go fishing in the salt marshes for flounder I use a 1/2 oz bucktail and a flounder hook with a minnow and catch more flounder than I can count (no keepers yet ) it is so sensetive and fine that catching a big flounder is no problem for this little pole

GL2 with an ultralight Shimano.

Crappie are not big fish, you would want to go with the UL or L rod and the length would depend on whether or not you are fishing from a boat. A good quality spinning reel in the smaller size would be the best reel selection.Q:Â

You would like to use a MH rod 6'6" length and a fairly stiff tip. Using a rod too limber will produce more hangups than anything.A:Â
I have the GL3 7 foot medium heavy, Mag bass rod. I have paired it with a curado reel. I fish plastic worms and light jig and plastics on them. You can only beat this rod with an upgraded IMX or GLX version. A GLoomis rod will make you a better fisherman the second you put it in your hands. I use a Fenwick 6 M action for crankbaits and spinnerbaits.Answers

Jig fishing demands more "feel" than most techniques. Jiggin' rods should be about 5' 9" long, super sensitive with a forgiving tip section and strong backbone. Rigging rods too demand more "feel", they need to be longer around 6'6" and a softer action. It all comes down to your technique and that depends on time and location. Anyway you cut it, fishin' for eyes it's all about feeling the bite.
