There are other high-modulus graphite rods as tough and durable as the GL3, but not one of them can match it for weight. The G.Loomis® GL³® Trigger Rod's featherweight construction generates increased casting distance, greater accuracy, more sensitivity—and less fatigue than costlier rods.

one of my best purchase ever exelent fishing rod... i bought my GL³ MH about a year ago... i go fishing about 20 to 30 times a year... i use my GL³ with a shimano curado baicast low profile reel... exelent combination for the peacock bass fishing... some people calls me a fishing freak... and is true because i love this sport... i also have a G. Loomis IMX fishing rod... and the combination price-cuality... the GL³ its way better... exelent rod really light and works perfectly for big coughts and agresive fight fishes... February 25, 2009
wow. I bought this rod at the beggining of the year and was very anxious to use it. I was not let down in the least. I paired it with an Abu Garcia REVO sx and it is by far my most favorite rod. The sensitivity is amazing. Im catching fish after fish and feeling every rock, stump, grass, and gravel. From now on when im looking for a sensitive rod with great strength, im going right to G. Loomis. May 22, 2011
BEST ROD I EVER HAD I am 60 years old and never spent this much money on a rod before. Now that I have i will never have anything less. I thing you could feel a fly walk on the end of this rod. Wow what a rod July 19, 2012
Quality doesn't match the price Coupled it with a 6500 CL3 Abu and fished with it on the Sea of Cortez off of Rocky Point and well it worked like a charm catching cabrilla bass and corvina. I got home, cleaned it up and noticed that my reel moved side to side. The reel seat came loose. Using such a high quality blank with cheap or not enough adhesive on the reel seat is a complete turn off from this brand. Forget their warranty, I wasn't about to deal with shipping it back to them. I ended up drilling a hole were the reel is mounted and pumped a heck of a lot of Gorilla super glue into it. Now it's a perfect rod!! Won't buy another Loomis rod, Ever!! June 7, 2012

A:
I am primarily saltwater, and paired this with a Shimano Chronarch 150, and it is outstanding. It has the sensitivity to feel the slightest pickup, but the beef to deal with a 15lb Redfish. The low profile reels fit very well, but the Chronarch is even lighter than the two you are suggesting.
