There are other high-modulus graphite rods as tough and durable as the GL3, but not one of them can match it for weight. G.Loomis® Drop Shot Rod's featherweight construction generates increased casting distance, greater accuracy, more sensitivity— and less fatigue than costlier rods.

The G.Loomis Drop Shot Rods offer the perfect balance of subtlety and strength to enable anglers to take finesse fishing to its zenith. Incredibly light, sensitive and responsive, Drop Shot Rods are built with the power to bury a hook at long range without a sweep set. Fitted with Special Mag taper for extra hauling power, these drop shot rods also feature Fuji® Alconite® guides, Fuji ECS blank-thru reel seat, and premium cork handle. 1-piece rods.

Extremely quick taper, soft tip for twitchin' in place!

A MUST HAVE I started crappie fishing this year after years of bass fishing. I purchased this rod for small lures and finesse fishing. Little did I know this is the sweetest rod on the planet for crappie. I realize the price is over the top for a crappie rod, but fishing is my favorite hobby and I like the best of the best and this is it. If you want the best rod on the planet for crappie this is it. I can feel the fish looking at the jig. I will never use anything other than a G.Loomis rod. After many years of fishing they have never let me down. December 26, 2007
The Pinnacle of drop shotting rods Many of us have discovered dropshotting over the past few years. It is an extremely effective tactic for catching deepwater bass, especially those suspended just off the bottom. The technique itself can be a bit tricky to master. Keeping in contact with bottom in deep water while trying to empart a lifelike action on your bait certainly takes skill and the right equiptment. When it comes to rods there simply is not a better tool for this job than the G Loomis Drop shot rod. It is everything you want and then some. I have the 6'10" medium action. It is light in weight and a real joy to hold. The thing oozes quality and it's an absolutely gorgeous looking piece of craftsmanship. You'll be amazed at the sensitivity of this rod. You'll be able to feel every contour of the bottom and the most subtle of pick ups. The extra fast tip allows you to really bring that bait to life without your weight losing touch with the bottom. Just shake that tip a little bit and get ready. The strength of the rod will allow you to battle the big boys up from the depths. Combine all this quality with the G Loomis warranty and this rod is very simply the best drop shot rod available. July 30, 2006

DS822 The DS822 is very sensitive rod that I use with 8 lb. line. Not only is it a great drop shot rod, it is also effective in casting light shakey head jigs and grubs. March 4, 2008

Medium vs light

Details:
I'm curious what version people go with. Ideally I was looking for a medium light but loomis drop shot rods are rated 'mag-light or mag-medium".

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Just curious what everybody thought about the comparison. They have similar components, except the new series of the LT has the split reel seat. I own a St. Croix Avid and LOVE it, but this rod is sweet looking and I've heard that Loomis might be even better in terms of sensitivity. So what do you think?

thats a tough question, cause i have both rods and its realy hard to make a difference since they r both extrimly good and sensative. if u like the split handle go with the legend tournament. you wont go wrong ither way.

Rod choice as always, is a matter of personal preference. Try a 6’9” or 7' medium light fishing pole with an extra fast tip.
