Regardless of hype, history, or marketing, this is not the knife that the Marines of WWII carried. The steel used in these knives, is far inferior to that which was used nearly seventy years ago. Also, the rat-tail tang has a tendency to snap off at the hilt with vigorous use. I went through no less than seven of them due to breakage in my twenty-four years in the military; and only continued to buy them because they were cheap; roughly $40.00 through the 1980's and 90's. They are also not very sharp, and do not hold an edge once you've worked to gain one. They are no longer cheap; and for nearly 100 bucks, there are better choices out there. I would say a good first knife for a young man, and good to practice throwing; but never trust your life out in the forest with it.

Handle has amazing grip, and the sheath fits snugly and appropriately. Never would of chosen anything other within the price category. May not have the style and design as more expensive knives, but sure gets the job done better.
