Rated 4 out of 5 by Frabill Pro-Thermal Tip-up The two best things about this tipup are that it keeps the holes from freezing and they're very compact for transporting. They're not ideal for deep snow as sometimes the spool won't be in the water and/or you can't see the flag. They're great when it's really cold and the holes freeze fast. Also great when there is no snow on the ice as you can build up a lip around the edge with the cuttings from the hole and they stay put. It is a little tricky/awkward to get used to rewinding the spool, but not horrible. I also like that you can see the mechanism spinning from afar if the fish is running. January 19, 2012
