This was purchased as a replacement for another Foodsaver that lasted for several years and worked very well until the end. I wish I could say the same for this.
This sealer was junk out of the box. 90% of the packages I have "sealed" so far have failed. I'm still trying to figure out why they decided to call this the Game Saver. The word "game" and vacuum sealer together would seem to have annotations of speed, reliability and the ability to seal large amounts of meat quickly. This machine cannot do any of these things.
1.) If the item you intend to seal is wet in the slightest, the heat strip will not be able to seal the bag due to the water. I cannot stress this more. This defeats one of the advantages of vacuum sealing.
2.) This unit will not seal one-gallon bags, wet or dry.
3.) Your bag has to be positioned perfectly otherwise it will just suck air quickly and then seal, which you cannot seem to cancel (even though there's a cancel button).
4.) The process of locking bags down is cumbersome and if not done right will reposition or fold you bag. Full bags require 3 hands to position the bag and close the lid.
5.) (and most importantly) The bags that have sealed to the best of this machine's ability still have lots of air left in them and are not packed tightly at all. The suction seems to be on a timer and not a pressure sensor, which means that not nearly enough of the air on some bags will be pulled out if the packaging if the meat or fish is loose.
Spend a few extra dollars and buy something with more quality. After shipping, I came close to spending the same on much better models.
