FoodSaver® Jar Sealer and Wide-Mouth Jar Sealer
I have tried the FoodSaver canisters and would have to say they do not work very well. However, the FoodSaver jar sealers are a whole new ball game. I tried them out the other week and the jar is still sealed. Great idea and would make a great present for someone that already owns a FoodSaver machine.

A Great tool have for your expanded food pantry
You can vacuum seal in a canning jar, anything you would normally have on your shelf and want to keep it staying fresh for a lot longer time. For example I canned brown sugar, spices, chocolate chips, almonds and ect. This is how you use it, put the product in a clean canning jar, then set the cap on it, then put the Jar Sealer over the jar an cap, hook up the vacuum hose to then push the canister button and wait for the cycle to end. When thats done pull off the Jar Sealer then screw on the jars ring over the cap and repeat it on the next jars. My wife and I love it I bet we'll find more uses for it and it will pay for it self.

This FoodSaver mason jar sealer i have purchased is the greatest thing ever. It makes my mason jars seal so very well, it seems like a factory sealed them. It keeps things so very fresh. Thank you so much.

You use the flat metal piece...it has the rubber seal on the underside...DO NOT use the metal ring until you have completed the sealing process..then you can replace the ring or leave off..your choice...I prefer to replace the metal ring..just in case the seal is displaced (kids or animals messing around in hiding places-like closets or under the bed)..so I make sure the ring is placed back on when the jar has a final seal.

yes, metal top, with small rubber sealing ring attached, that goes onto the jar itself
Yes you do use the "metal top" or lid. Put the lid on, then the jar sealer over it onto the jar. Attached with the vac. tube to the vac. (I use the "canister" setting on my FoodSaver machine.) When the machine goes off. Remove the Jar Sealer from the jar. The remaining "lid" is sealed. The ring can go on afterward but do not cinch it tightly. Just "finger tight" will do.
