FoodSaver GameSaver Deluxe Vacuum Packaging System by Tilia
My new favorite kitchen tool
I love, Love, LOVE my Foodsaver! We raise our own food, hunt and process most of our family's meat and produce. It was hard to justify the expense of buying another small kitchen appliance since I could always use zipper type bags, freezer paper and other packaging. I finally took the plunge when I found the Gamesaver model on sale. Yay! We harvested and processed 180 pounds of chicken and filled our freezer with wholesome, truly pasture raised meat. Could not believe how easy and efficiently this year's processing went. Even packaging an oddly shaped, whole bird was amazingly simple. This product needs to be renamed to "Timesaver". My Christmas gift list is mostly done since I'll be putting several of these under my family members' trees. Thanks for a great product.

time consuming and fussy
My husband and I are experienced food vacuumers and looked forward to our new machine. It proved to be a disappointment. It took many attempts to get a good seal on our blanched and dried carrot crop. After almost individually drying each piece and putting in a paper towel we got a kind of exceptable vacuum and it did finally seal....after my husband tried the canister mode on the bag. It took hours and we were not yet done with the carrots but I was done with the machine. We never had to baby our past machines in such a way. Also the addition of the towel eliminates cooking in the bag.
We returned the machine and do hope to see our refund.

seems to wear out quick with over use
I am on my second one. I had one many years ago and loved it. After about 2 yrs, it would take the air out but then stopped automatically sealing it. I would have to lean on the machine and then hit the seal button hoping not too much air would get back into the bag. Fast forward to now. I got this same machine and it has been about 3-4 yrs and the same thing has happened. Worked fine one day and the next time I used it, it continued to be taking the air out but would not stop to seal the bag again. So back to leaning on the machine to make sure that air would not get back into the bag to defeat the whole purpose. I have no idea why this is happening but it is quite annoying it has happened to two of the same machines that I have had. I love it though. I do plan on getting another one, one that you just slip the bag in and it does the work for you. It has saved a lot of our food and I can store food in our deep freezer for a long time. Perfect for soups when you make a big pot and want left overs to easily reheat another day. I do recommend this to anyone because it is a money saver. And i LOVE getting meats and seasoning them before sealing them in the bag. It really helps get all the seasoning flavor through out the meats. I just wish this specific one didn't have the problem of not sealing after taking the air out. I tell all my friends about it and how it saves you a lot of money. Really is a great product, but maybe it is just this model that I have the problems with.

This is the best unit.....ever
My wife wouln't give this product up...FOR NOTHING. She uses it for freezing meat as well as other food items. It is wonderful for packaging food that we will use just a few days from purchase, up to several days. We marinate meat, and seal it in food-saver bags...both for the freezer and for 24-hour use. You can open many "bagged" items from the grocery store -- take out some to eat right away -- and reseal to await the next use.
We continue to impress friends with this AMAZING product -- and they have gone right out to purchase it! (on-line, of course)
Thank you for asking our opinion. And thanks for the
sales you have on-line.
