I'm a rookie fly fisherwoman. We fish primarily for bass. Took the poppers out on the lake today and caught my two largest bass on a fly rod to date. One 4.5 and one 5lbs. Great fun. Good baits in my book.

Crease flies are excellent and very durable when fishing for toothy critters. The Blue & White crease fly has been the most effective top water fly I've ever used. The hooks could be a liitle sharper.

I live in Georgia and have used these flies while fishing in a local river and the results can only be described as EXPLOSIVE! The bass would just CRUSH these flies. One hit it so hard he left the water and another actually made a big V in the water while attacking it.

I've got a White River 5/6 wt fly rod, are these poppers to big?Answers

No not at allA:Â
they are aimed at reds, stripers, and blues, and inshore salt usage. the smaller flies like the crease would do great on a 6 wt, but the larger flies would be a bit of a stretch. unless you are an ultralight guy, I would get an 8 or even 9 wt. to flip these heavy wind-resistent flies around.1 of 1
