For a beginner this product is fine, i would suggest putting a drop of CA glue on the end of the connector then sliding the shrink tube over it then heating it up and that way it will last a lot longer.

They are a little tricky to get started and it takes a little bit more doing to get them right but once they are in place you can swap leaders very quick. You can tie different flies on diffeent leaders and then just swap leaders to change flies.

These installed with ease and they make attaching your leaders very, very easy.
I ordered them despite the mixed reviews, but as I had expected, the problems that folks were having installing these had nothing to do with the product, but their ineptitude.
The directions clearly state, at least on my package, that the heat shrink works at 230F. Seeing as how boiling water is only 212F, at sea level, that technique isn't going to work.
I'm a carpenter and I used my heat gun. I had it set on 'low' and I started by holding it 12" away and slowly worked towards the heat. About 8-10 inches away, the heat shrink, shrank. I speculate and hair dryer on high would do the exact same thing. I didn't use the light bulb technique because all my bulbs are CFL's or LED's, neither of which get very warm.
Read the directions, and you will not be unhappy.
