although the reel seat cushions are designed well and installed easily they DO NOT allow your retaining ring to reach the bottom thread on your reel seat to allow removal of your reel! If they only made these 1/8" shorter in length the would have 1 fabulous prodcut......

These are hard to install, but should never come off without effort. Installation instructions are accurate, but it still took a few tries to get it right.
These should protect a flyrod as descriped.
