Really works I've tried several types/sizes/costs etc. This works the best for me.The line must be in the extractor groove. Keep the line taught. Use the smallest end appropriate for your catch. SLIGHTLY push the extractor further past where the hook is imbeded. The hook will catch on the extractor. KEEP THE LINE TIGHT WHILE BACKING THE EXTRACTOR OUT. November 1, 2011
Don't fish without it! I found one of these tools in my Dad's tackle box after he died. I took it to Canada fishing and now I can't live without it! I am ordering several to give to my fishing buddies. My fishing partner is always saying, "Throw me the hook tool". This is the one thing you should have in your tackle box and its only 79 cents. Can't live without one If you don't own one buy it today. Nobody likes gut hooking a fish or getting bit. Last weekend my boss and I where surf fishing, and he gut hooked a blue runner, after unhooking the fish and watching it swim away with my hook remover in less than ten seconds. My boss purchase this product the next day. September 2, 2007
hook remover We have had one forever it seems. Ours broke last week-end and we looked all over Richmond Virginia for one when I should have just looked at Pro Bas. These things are easy to hold and easy to remove hooks from the fish that swallow the hooks July 31, 2007

I, too, do a lot of trout fishing and I can tell you that in my experience this product is not meant for smaller hooks. They can easily be broken.
