I had never used one of these until I started Ice fishing this past winter. A friend gave me one and I used it a few time before I broke it, had it in my pocket and sat on it. It works great to remove hooks even when they are deep inside without hurting the fish.
The only thing that I could say is that it is to bad it wasn't a little stronger but for the price you can afford to replace it several times. I recently purchased 2 so that I would have a spare.

I've tried several types/sizes/costs etc. This works the best for me.The line must be in the extractor groove. Keep the line taught. Use the smallest end appropriate for your catch. SLIGHTLY push the extractor further past where the hook is imbeded. The hook will catch on the extractor. KEEP THE LINE TIGHT WHILE BACKING THE EXTRACTOR OUT.

These things work great! Just guide it down the line, push, and presto, the fish falls off.

This is a very handy tool. I do a lot of night fishing under the lights for crappie and in doing so also catch a lot of catfish and stripe. This tool has saved injury to many fish and a lot of time lost in cutting line and re-hooking.
